چکیده

Currently, pharmaceutical companies are working on innovative methods, processes and products. Oral mucoadhesive systems, such as tablets, gels, polymer films, among these possible systems possess many advantages, including the possibility to be applied in swallowing problems. The present study focused formulating buccal films investigating physical physical–chemical properties of films. Sodium alginate (SA) hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) were used film-forming agents, glycerol (GLY) was added a plasticizer, cetirizine dihydrochloride (CTZ) an active ingredient (API). prepared at room temperature with solvent casting method by mixed two-level three-level factorial designs. thickness, tensile strength (hardness), mucoadhesivity, surface free energy (SFE), FTIR, Raman spectra, well dissolution investigated. investigations showed that GLY can reduce mucoadhesivity CTZ increase distribution proved homogeneous API could dissolve completely from all We conclude 1% 3% concentrations appropriate formulated for application mucosa drug delivery system.

Novel Aproaches - Mucoadhesive Buccal Drug Delivery System

Among novel drug delivery systems, Buccal mucoadhesive systems have attracted great attention in recent years due to their ability to adhere and remain on the oral mucosa and to release their drug content gradually. Mucoadhesion may be defined as the process where polymers attach to biological substrate or a synthetic or natural macromolecule, to mucus or an epithelial surface. Buccal mucoadhes...

Carbopol 934-Sodium Alginate-Gelatin Mucoadhesive Ondansetron Tablets for Buccal Delivery: Effect of pH Modifiers

The present work aims at developing mucoahesive tablets of ondansetron hydrochloride using bioadhesive polymers like carbopol-934, sodium alginate and gelatin. Tablets prepared by direct compression using different polymer with varying ratio were evaluated for hardness, friability, uniformity of weight, disintegration time, microenvironmental pH, bioadhesion and in vitro release. Hardness, fria...

Formulation and Optimization of Mucoadhesive Nanodrug Delivery System of Acyclovir

Acyclovir is an antiviral drug used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, with an oral bioavailability of only 10-20% [limiting absorption in gastrointestinal tract to duodenum and jejunum] and half-life of about 3 h, and is soluble only at acidic pH (pKa 2.27). Mucoadhesive polymeric nanodrug delivery systems of acyclovir have been designed and optimized using 2(3) full factori...

Preparation and in-vitro evaluation of sodium alginate microspheres containing diphtheria toxoid as new vaccine delivery

During last two decades, polysaccharides such as alginate (Alg) alone and in combination with other biopolymers are widely used in vaccine and drug delivery systems. The aim of the present work was to investigate the potential utility of microparticles made of alginate (Alg) as new vehicles for improving nasal vaccine delivery. For this purpose, diphtheria toxoid (DT) was chosen as a model an...

Formulation and Evaluation of Sodium Alginate Based In-Situ Gel Drug Delivery System of Famotidine

In-situ forming polymeric formulations drug delivery systems is in solution form before administration in the body, but once administered, undergoes gelatin in-situ to form a gel. The formulation of gel depends upon factors like temperature modulation, pH changes, presence of ions and ultra-violet irradiation, from which drug gets released in sustained and controlled manner. The object of this ...
